Aims and Scope

  • The Scientific Journal of NATEC is the official Journal issued by the National Atomic Energy Commission of Yemen (NATEC), Sana’a, and is devoted to the Sciences and technologies of peaceful applications of atomic energy as well as to the impacts of ionizing radiation. The aims and scope of the Scientific Journal of NATEC Cover all forms of atomic energy applications over the range of technical, economic, environmental, public health, regulatory, and legal issues.

1- General Information

Scientific Journal of NATEC is published once a year (annually). It aims at publishing original research contributions covering all aspects of atomic Energy applications. The Journal publishes contributions in English with Arabic summaries or Arabic with English summaries and it welcomes manuscripts presenting previously unpublished information of the journal scope.

 Types of contributions or publications

Three types of paper will be published:

(a) Normal length papers (Articles): Comprehensive description and discussion of original research investigations. The experimental techniques must be described in detail. It should contribute new knowledge to the field of interest.

(b) Reviews: Timely critical reviews will be accepted on any aspect of a particular scientific topic. They may include theoretical, experimental or instrumental subjects.

(c) Brief Notes: Generally. Short communication or short articles dealing with topics that are less significant or comprehensive than those in normal-length papers (articles).

 Submission of papers

  • Papers submitted to the Journal must be original with clear definition of objectives, materials used and methods applied and should not have been published or offered for publications elsewhere. All papers should be written in English with Arabic summaries or Arabic with English summaries. Authors should submit three copies of the manuscript (typed double-spaced) including figures, plus the original figures, to the journal address.
  • For papers produced using Microsoft word (version 7 or above), please submit a disk (CD) with the final revised version of the manuscript; produced after complying with the amendments, correction and remarks recommended by the referees; plus one hard copy of the version corresponds exactly to the file on the disk. If illustrations are provided on disk, hard copy versions of them must also be included. The operation system and the word-processor used should be specified clearly.

Reprints

Author(s) will receive 3 reprints of his their paper free of charge and one copy of the Journal.

Accepted papers automatically become copyright of the Scientific Journal of NATEC.

Publications fees: 5000 YR.

2- Manuscript Preparation and Rules 

  • All pages should be numbered consecutively, including those containing diagrams, tables and figures. Diagrams, Tables and Figures should be submitted in separate sheets and placed after the text. SI system should be used for all scientific and laboratory data. Abbreviations for units should follow the suggestions of the British standards publications BS1991.
  • English Manuscripts must be written in Times New Roman font, and the Arabic Manuscript in Simplified Arabic font.
  • Manuscripts must be written and arranged as follows:
  • The manuscripts are to be preceded by a sheet of paper bearing request for publication the name.full postal address, fax number, and e-mail address of the corresponding author. The number of pages in the manuscript, and the numbers of tables and illustrations should also be indicated.
  • Papers should be divided into sections, using headings (e.g. Abstract, Introduction, Experimental, Results, discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, and References).
  • The title of the manuscripts (bold with 13 font size): Should be concise but informative. This should be followed by the name(s) of the author(s) (11 font size) and address(es) of the author(s) (10 font size)
  • The Abstract (11 font size): It should consist of a brief and factual account of the contents and conclusions of the paper, in addition to an indication of any new information which it may contain and of its relevance. No references should be given in the Abstract.
  • The Introduction (11 font size): This should state clearly the reason for the work and what is new in the paper, with brief reference to previous work on the subject.
  • The main Text (11 font size): use four or fewer order of headings (e. g. Experimental, Results, Discussion, Conclusions). Heading should be bold with 12 font size, but italic for subheading. Avoid footnotes. Indicate on the left-side margin, in pencil, the proper positions for the insertion of Tables and Figures.
  • Tables and Figures: Tables should be typed on separate sheets (avoid internal vertical and horizontal lines), numbered consecutively and each table should have a short informative heading. Tables (including plates) should have caption.
  • References: The author is responsible for ensuring that the references are correct and that all references quoted in the text are cited in full (without abbreviations) in the list of references. References should be listed alphabetically (unnumbered) according to last name(s) of the author(s) and should follow the following sequence: Last name(s), first initials of author(s), year of publication, title of publication, publisher (name of periodical), place of publication, volume, and pages. References in the text should be cited by numerals on the line in brackets: Example] 1], or by the author’s name as (Knoll, 1999), and in the case of more than two authors as (Al-Masri et al., 2008)
  • The preferred Sequence for book references is: Last name(s), first initials of author(s), year of publication, Title of the book, edition, publisher name, place of publication, and page no.
